There’s a lot interest in Idebenone lately through the marketing of some new cosmetic lines.  Idebenone is an anitoxidant ingredient that is present in a few products on the market.  It’s job is to “scavenge” or neutralized free radicals in the skin.  Free radicals are those nasty little molecules that can cause the break down of collagen, elastin, lipids and other good things in the skin.  While all this is a good thing….

While all this is a good thing, remember that idebenone is one antioxidant compound and there are over a hundred different free radicals in the skin.  Idebenone and any other single ingredient cannot handle all of these by themselves.  You always look for combinations of anti-oxidants in products.  One other thing….antioxidants don’t improve the look and feel of skin, they just stop the future damage from occuring so if you want skin corrective products look elswhere.
