This is simply a way to help sell new products and increase the number of products they have for sale. Dry indicates the amount of water in the skin. Oily indicates the amount of sebum that your skin produces. These are completely independent properties of the skin.  Did you know….

Did you know that your skin can be oily and dry at the same time? This is not combination skin. Combination skin they define as areas of dryness and different areas of oiliness. Your skin can be dry and oily in the same spot at the same time. There is no way to really confirm this by looking at your skin or touching your skin. Some people think that when they have oily skin it is hydrated. This could not be farther from the truth. Did
you know that one of the root causes of acne is dehydration? This is why so many acne products stop working over time. They dry out the skin and that factor initiates more acne.

Be a knowledgeable consumer of skin care products; read the ingredients on the label, know what is in the products you are using, know what condition your skin is in and then make the choice. Otherwise you continue to just guess and move from product to product in the hunt for that product that actually works for you.
