This the ingredient listing on a common skincare product that is on the market today. Do you know what is in the product? Do you buy products by "touch & Smell"? Do you buy products by word of mouth or by brand reputation?
All of the above are the most common reasons why consumers buy skin care products. The single most important factor in purchasing decision should be; What is in this product that will help my skin improve and what ingredients should I avoid?
So Let's take a look at the above label:
-
Water is the universal diluent which means a carrier of other ingredients.
-
Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicone derivative which makes the skin feel smooth
-
Dimethicone crosspolymer is simply a thickener
-
Dimethicone by itself is a moisturizer
-
Laureth-23, Laureth-4 and Steareth-21 are emulsifiers which help oil and water ingredients stay together.
-
Glycerin is a moisturizer
-
Phenoxyethanol, Carylyl glycol and potassium sorbate are preservatives
-
Bisabolol is an anti-irritant and anti-redness ingredient
-
Polyacrylamide C13-14 isopariffin is also a thickener
So what is this product intended to do based on the ingredients? It provides excellent moisturization with mild preservatives while feeling smooth upon application to skin. Probably an effective sensitive skin moisturizer.
